There are four stages required to produce a New Dimensions web page The following is included in a project 1. Pre-production: This stage involves meeting with the client via phone or in person, discussing goals, needs and materials. At this stage, the client will decide what the strategy of his or her New Dimension pages will be. Examples can be but are not limited to: introducing the company; to state a corporate mission; making a pledge or guarantee of service; introducing or showcasing a product or a line of products (one by one); introducing staff; featuring a web special or specials; or a combination of these. Scripting. This process includes preparing written scripts, deciding on visuals and titles and deciding "what visuals go where" so that what appears on the opposite or other parts of the page can be perfectly coordinated with the video in post-production. While the client should prepare the initial script or script outline, New Dimensions will be happy to assist with this process. Ordinarily, the Client will supply visuals or products. These can be in digital form (preferred) or photographic form which will require scanning. If no product or subject shots are available, if practical, new dimensions can digitally photograph them while on location and manipulate them in Photoshop to optimize appearance*. Each script should be 30 to 50 seconds long in order to keep the computer loading time short. If a longer segment for a subject is required, it can be broken into several linked pages to accommodate this. 2. Production: Video shooting to affect a wide screen, blank or limbo page as shown in the sample web pages requires the use of a "green screen" and special lighting considerations. This in turn requires the rental of a professional video or photographic studio the cost of which will be added the overall project fee. Video taping in the client's place of business is somewhat less expensive. However, the client should choose a location that can accommodate video lighting and camera set-ups as well as four to five people In addition, phones and other exterior or interior noises should be controllable. Usually, the larger the area selected the better. All video taping will require multiple takes and the client should plan to spend several hours on set. The client should be prepared and rehearsed. New Dimensions will bring enlarged copies of the pre-approved script for the client to read from while taping. Last minute script changes will be hand lettered on large pads. In most cases, each web page will most likely involve multiple takes. Clients should also bring a good amount of patience with them as lighting issues and verbal "flubs" can eat up time. Usually takes get better as the client gets used to talking to a camera. Talent releases even for employees, will be presented for signature at the time of the shoot. At the time of the shoot, we will check the viability of the footage as it relates to green screen compositing right on the set through a computer editing program and if on location, through playback on a production monitor. The entire shooting process should take four to six hours including set-up. 3. Transfer and Editing: Back at our offices we will pull takes and transfer them to the computer for editing. We will then composite takes to eliminate the background in the case of green screen shooting. At this point we will add a white (or any color desired) background. At this stage we adjust the video to maximize skin tones and brightness and contrast for web playback. We then publish the take(s) to our web authoring program. 4. Flash: At this stage we marry the video into a wider stage and add the product shots and /or titles and graphics. If the shoot was in-office, we airbrush or blend the video into the rest of the wider background. At this stage we also coordinate the appearance of the product shots or graphics to match the words spoken by the talent. Finally, we publish the page(s) as a swf. movie and present to the client for final approval Adjustments or changes in graphic size, placement and content of titles may be made at this stage. Number of New Dimension pages The client should plan for between one to four New Dimension pages per shoot. Because the time and costs of production are front-end loaded, i.e., travel, studio rental, assistant day rates, lighting and sound set-up time, there is no cost break for shooting and producing fewer pages. After-the-fact changes. Changes that are made to the approved script that require new or additional video taping after the original shoot has taken place will be charged at a re-shoot rate of $1500 per day (or half day) plus any travel or studio rental costs. Changes that require the insertion of new product shots after the agreed-upon scripts have been turned into SWF movies will be charged at $125 per hour. Changes or re-shoots that are required because of technical issues that are the fault of New Dimensions will be made without charge. Changes that are requested because of issues of "vanity" i.e., "I don't like the way I look!" or I don't like my voice!" etc., will be charged at the re-shoot rate.
